Operational analytics, not surveillance.
Bulk File Downloader is meant to help with large file workflows, not become another place where sensitive browsing data accumulates. This page describes the intended privacy behavior of the extension and the shared backend around it.
- Default mindset
- Keep collection narrow and local where possible
- Opt-out
- Analytics collection can be turned off anytime
- Protected pages
- Browser-restricted pages are intentionally blocked
What the extension stores
Bulk File Downloader stores local popup preferences in your browser, such as scan settings, analytics opt-in, and whether first-run guidance has been dismissed.
What analytics include
If analytics are enabled, the product is designed to send low-sensitivity operational events like scan starts, queue actions, and aggregate counts that help prioritize bugs and product decisions. The companion backend relays those events to PostHog and, when available, forwards the request IP so repeat callers can be grouped without a persistent install identifier.
What analytics do not include
The intended design avoids collecting file contents, exported lists, clipboard contents, account logins, or complete browsing history. Protected browser pages are intentionally blocked from scanning.
How to opt out
Open the extension, go to Settings > Account, and turn off analytics collection. Core scan, filter, export, and download features still work without analytics enabled.
